More information about this house sitter
Currently located in Western Australia and open to locations here only for the time being.
Wow, there is a lot of house-sitters out there to choose from isn't there? For a lot of people a profile picture tells a 1000 words, which is why I have up myself with my belated boy of 16yrs, plus a whole pile of pics of the little ones I've gotten to know over my years as a sitter. I hope from them you can see just how much I love doing what I do, and how much the pets I have cared for have enjoyed their "fake mum" as well!
Despite my cheesy opening line, I'm not going to sell you on why I am the best house-sitter for you over others. The well-being of your pets and home is most important and I'm sure you know what's best for you when you see it. Instead, I'd like to share insights into myself as house-sitter, to see I'm the sitter for your needs. It's a bit of a read, but worth it for those who want more than just a photo and paragraph from the person they may entrust!
So, how experienced am I?
I had been house-sitting full-time for several years before Covid, and now things have stabilised am back into it, as I missed being Mary Poppins! I've handled a variety of animals and am adept at learning new skills for the ones I haven't. So far on the list is dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, horses, sheep, ducks, geese, turkeys, guinea pigs, plants, vineyards and humans! (AirBnb's). I'm accustomed to regular walks, feeding routines, administering medicines (even to the problem kids), and keeping animals loved up and played with. If your little one is used to being on the couch, in the bed...their house, their rules. If you prefer a stricter environment your house, your rules. Just let me how you want things done and I will follow it to the last dot point. I also understand that house-sitting isn't just about pets, but that plants may just need as much love as them too! Phone calls, mail collecting/forwarding, bins in/out, access for trade-maintenance...all just a part of caring for your home as my own. Experience has taught me the right questions to ask, to ensure everything is running the same as if you were there.
Why am I a house-sitter?
I have lived through many years of holidays/work trips/emergencies with a pet, and help I had from others was invaluable. When my boy of 16yrs departed, I thought why waste all that love...so now I do for others what has been done for me full-time! I love the house-sitting lifestyle, the wonderful animals (and owners) I get to meet, and aspire to do this for many years to come.
A little insight into who I am...
Don't be fooled by my photos, I'm mature (just turned 44). Quiet, house-proud, responsible and trustworthy are words are usually used to describe me. I meditate/sing/yoga and commune with nature for entertainment and socialise with books/docos/animals/occasional friends. I come from a business background so am very fastidious with a keen eye for detail, excellent organisational skills, Australian (for your peace of mind) and have volunteered in a Vet clinic. I have a bubbly personality that I've been told puts people at ease, and am known by most people as a natural born animal-whisperer. Chances are, your pet is going to love me (...and hopefully you too!)
5 good reasons of why to choose me...
1. Firstly, I'm currently at home a lot at present, therefore am available to not just be there over-night, but somewhat throughout the day with them as well.
2. I provide forms to cover all information such as your travel plans, pet/ home routines, emergency/vet contacts etc and more to ensure my stay is stress free for all. They are great peace of mind that you have secured a safe and committed sitter, legal evidence that you have one in the first place and protection for unforeseen events.
3. Bin days, watering, mail, house-maintenance, all these things will continue just as if you were here. And did I mention I spent a year working as a commercial cleaner? ;-)
4. I can provide references from past sits and a national police clearance if needed.
5. At the frequency that suits you, I send updates of how your little ones are feeling, eating, sleeping and generally being adorable! I even have past housesits I stay in touch with, not only for future sits, but now as new friends!
Who will I do a sit for?
I am available to almost any type of pet or property anywhere and love the excitement of discovering where and who I will end up with next! I do last minute sits in the event of cancellations, partial sits can be arranged and rural sits welcomed.
Personally, I am very low maintenance, and all I need is access to is WIFI facilities and suitable clean accommodation. To be aware, I also may be without a vehicle for your sit dates, so I do appreciate any assistance for transport to/from the housesit if needed, and may give preference to sits that offer vehicle use. I also do ask for a willingness to provide a house-sitting testimonials and references after the sit.
And...who will I not do a sit for?
Due to my own wellbeing, I may not do house-sits for owners that smoke inside the home, cannot offer a clean/tidy accommodation, are not in a safe area or with any animals that could be potentially aggressive towards me. Also, please keep in mind that although last minute cancellations may be an inconvenience for you, it can result in house-sitters having no accommodation at all during your booking period. So I ask to be mindful of this when engaging myself to sit, especially in the event of a lockdown.
Ok so...what now?
If you are interested in me and would like to make contact, please do asap as availability can change suddenly, as a lot of sitters are listed on multiple forums. Helpful things to include in the initial message (if not already on your ad) is...
1. Dates of sit
2. Location and transport options
3. Pics of pets and property
4. Phone/internet coverage
5. Any special needs
Following this, I do suggest a phone call to discuss other details, then a meet and greet if local where we may even be able confirm the booking on the day. For rural/interstate sits, video can replace a meetup, paperwork can be done all via email, and an arrival earlier to the sit start date for familiarisation too. Solutions for everyone!
Quite a read huh! Hehe Makes me wonder sometimes how much you don't know about other profiles on here so I do hope that it's useful to most.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any queries and I hope to be comforting your little ones with fun and love during your absence sometime soon!
Best wishes and furry kisses,
