More information about this house sitter

We are Fiona (51) and Tony (58). We are a professional, non-smoking couple from Melbourne without children or pet-caring responsibilities at home. Having paid off our home we are looking to take this opportunity to explore a bit more of Australia whilst escaping the Melbourne winter.

We available from sits in Queensland or NSW from May 2024. We loosely plan to we make our way back home to Melbourne around the end of October.

We are very experienced house sitters who have completed 26 housesits throughout Australia, The Pacific, Asia, the UK, Europe, and the Caribbean.

We are both animal lovers, and, having owned pets including cats, dogs, birds, fish and rabbits, we understand the responsibility of caring for your pets and looking after them in your absence. Having been away from our own pets ourselves whilst traveling, we fully appreciate the concern that your pets are being looked after with care and compassion. I have completed a 'First Aid for Pets' course and a 'Happy Cats' course, both run by the Royal Society for the Protection of Animals (RSPCA).

During the last few years, we had to put house sitting and travel plans on hold. Initially due to work commitments, the pandemic and then to care for our 15-year-old diabetic cat Dusty. Caring for Dusty involved giving him 2 insulin injections a day as well as a special diabetic low-carbohydrate diet. We are both very comfortable with giving insulin injections and medication. Late in 2022 Dusty passed away so we have no pet-caring commitments at home but we miss him dearly so we have lots of love to give to your pets.

During the pandemic, I (Fiona) undertook a career change that accommodates working from home. I work from home for an IT company as a Client Services Manager in Melbourne and my partner Tony works part-time as an Uber driver but is taking a break while we are house sitting so we would be spending lots of time at home with your pets. Both our roles give us the freedom to work from anywhere in Australia.

Below are just a few examples of the house sits we have completed through Trusted House Sitters, Mind a home, and Happy House sitters.

Our Australian house sit experience includes a house sit in Sydney caring for two terrific Border Collies and a lovely home in Sydney. This was the third time we have house-sat and cared for Mia and Diesel. We walked the dogs twice a day and gave lots of pats and love.

We house-sat in Quaama a small country town on the southern coast of NSW for 2 weeks. We cared for 2 elderly dogs that required gentle daily walks and timely administration of medication. During our stay, we were involved in a real-life bushfire emergency and prepared the dogs for evacuation.

In 2023 we spent May-October housesitting and pet caring in Queensland and NSW.

We completed a 10 day sit in Junee in NSW caring for 2 dogs – Jessie and Bessie and a cat called Cat as well as some chickens. Caring for Jessie and Bessie involved feeding and lots of playtime chasing balls and sticks. Caring for the chickens involved feeling them, collecting eggs and letting them out of their coop in the morning and putting them away at sundown. Caring for Cat involved cuddles and pats and feeding once a day.

We completed a 2 week sit Buderim caring for a lovely Burmese cat called Jett, the owner home gardens and pool. Caring for Jett included feeding and brushing and lots of pats.

Prior to caring for Jett, we house sat near Caloundra for a couple caring for their dog Hughie and their lovey home, garden and pool. Caring for Hughie involved 2 walks a day to the dog park, lots of ball chasing and lots of love and attention. Hughie is sweet and affectionate 2 year old Border Collie x Kelpie.

We completed a 2 week and a half week house sit in Lake Macdonald for a couple caring for their 8 chickens, home and extensive 2.5-acre property. Caring for the chickens involved giving food and water daily and collecting eggs. We cared for extensive gardens and lawns with daily watering and weekly mowing using a ride on mower.

Prior to our house sit at Lake Macdonald we house sat for a couple caring for their dog Rosie, a Border Collie for just over a month near Kingaroy. Caring for Rosie involved a daily walk, play time and lots of love and pats. We also cared for the couple’s garden and numerous indoor plants.

We completed a 2-week house sit in Margate for a couple caring for their cat and their lovey home and garden. Caring for Pixie involved feeding, playtime and spending lots of time with her.
The homeowners have only recently moved to the area, so we were tending to a recently planted garden and trees watering daily.

Prior to the sit in Margate, we completed a 2 and a half week sit in Thornlands, a suburb of Brisbane and we are caring for 2 dogs, Bambi- a Staffi and Gizmo - a mini foxie and a Devon Rex cat called Skat. Their daily routine involved feeding, walks once a day for the dogs and playtime as well as lots of love and attention especially at night when we were watching TV together. We were also watering their garden and lots of indoor plants.

In early May we completed a 6-week house sit in Greenmount, near Toowoomba caring for 3 dogs. Jack and Ellie were both dogs in their senior years and Maggie was a 2 year old Beagle. Two of the dogs required medication daily and daily walks plus lots of pats, love and attention. We also cared for the owner’s home and gardens.

We have completed numerous housesits in Europe including in Cyprus, the UK, France, and Spain. One of our more unique house sits was when we house-sat on a farm in Cyprus for 12 weeks caring for 2 dogs, 4 cats, 2 cows, and 80 chickens. We also house-sat in a small village in Spain for 8 weeks caring for a lovely dog.

We house-sat in Sanur Bail for 3 weeks. We cared for 4 great little dogs and the owner's lovely home and car. We also completed a 5 day sit in Kuala Lumpur caring for a terrific little dog and some fish. Caring for Julian involved walking him in the morning, playtime, feeding him, and giving him lots of love and attention. Caring for the fish involved feeding once a day and running the filter. We completed a 3-week house sit in Port Vila, Vanuatu. We cared for a large dog (Great Dane Neo Mastiff Cross) 4 cats and a litter of cute kittens as well as a lovely home, pool, and car.

We were also completed a 2-month house sit in Grenada in the Caribbean, West Indies. It involved looking after four lovely dogs, one of which is 13 and had cancer and so required special care and attention. Caring for the dogs involved daily medication, regular walks, brushing, daily checking for ticks, a weekly bath, and lots of love and affection. We cared for the owner's home, car, and plants and supervised the house staff.

We will look after your home the way we would our own - we are homeowners ourselves and are conscious of the care and security needed in keeping a house maintained. We are both very house-proud and would consider it a privilege to care for your home, garden, and pets.

We would be happy to provide references and a police clearance on request.

We look forward to being able to discuss your house sit and caring for your pets and your home with you in more detail should you feel we are suitable house sitters and pet carers please feel free to contact us.
