More information about this house sitter

We are Steph, a graphic designer and tattoo artist from Ballarat, and Niall a carpenter from Ireland. We are a couple in our early thirties who have lived together in Melbourne city for a decade.
We have finally put the wheels in motion to immigrate back to Nialls home town of Galway, Ireland now that the pandemic is mostly a bad memory.

Our rental property of 6 years has abruptly ended due to the landlord wishing to sell. We will be leaving for Ireland in early November and so signing up to a new official rental, even short term does not fit with our timeline.
I guess, this is where you come in, if we are lucky enough to be the right fit and chosen to care for your home.
We are hoping to find a place to house sit in Melbourne while we tie up the loose ends and move on from Australia.

If you have pets this is only too exciting for us. We had a rescue Staffordshire terrier jerry for the last 7 years of his life before he passed away in 2019. He was a very anxious old fella who had a hard life so for the years we had him we were dedicated to making them golden years. He is missed. At our last long-term rental we looked after our neighbour’s cats Romeo and Juliet as he is not home often. If your pet is awkward or social or independent I think we can be the experienced minders you are looking for to keep them safe and happy.

Steph has been a hobby cactus and succulent breeder for 10 years. She has over 350 plants (aside from the double veggie garden) that we are going to drive to her parents farm in Ballarat to be re-homed. To say she has green fingers and your garden and/or houseplants would be well looked after is an understatement.

We both work full time. Niall works mornings while Steph usually works evenings, and we try keep the 4-day-work-week philosophy to see more of each other. The good news for you is one of us is always home.

Niall is probably borderline OCD, and is a bit of a slave to his own cleaning habits - not being able to unwind in a untidy home. If you have anything that needs a fix or seeing to in your home he is happy to do this too.

I’ve rambled on a bit here but I think it’s important to introduce ourselves as best we can. Inviting a stranger to your home to house sit is a bit of daunting decision I’m sure!
If we sound like a good fit then we can open this conversation either on zoom or at a cafe.
