I'm a mature, well loved by animals (sometimes taken advantage of!) New Zealand woman in my thirties. I've been living in Sydney since 2022 and work independently as a pilates teacher, writer, dancer & actor. Ive been house sitting on and off over the years. I don't have a furbaby of my own and miss them. I am fit and active and I HAVE NOW MOVED to South Central Coast. (A big thank you to all my housesits last year that helped me decide where I wanted to permanently set up! And to those who became my lifelong friends as well!)
I'd love to talk with you about your needs, so please feel free to get in touch. If you'd like to screen me further to save yourself time before making a call or meet, please see more details below.
Happy Housesitter Finding!
I can/have:
- I'm great with cats and small-medium sized dogs (Fondness for all cats, small to medium dogs (particularly cavoodles, pompskies, daschounds etc) + plus well-behaved labs, huskies, golden retrievers etc).
- Experience house sitting
- Experience pet sitting
- Can administer simple medicines inside food or on skin
- Can mix various foods and heat up your babies favourite cuisine
- Grown up around cats
- My full drivers license
- Experience working as a yacht stewardess so you can be sure your house will stay clean and tidy
-Sit a maximum of 3 pets (2 cats, 1dog/2 dogs, 1 cat/ 3 cats; not 3 dogs unless one doesn't require walking with its siblings).
I want your babies to have the right level of care so I believe in being transparent. Therefore.....
I can't / don't:
- Unfortunately I'm not able to care for indoor birds due to bird seed allergy (outdoor chickens are fine)
- I don't recommend myself for very large unruly dogs (well trained are fine) outside the listed type due to lack of experience in that area and my small body frame (1m65, 50kg)
-I do not offer complicated cooking services for pets, for example organic chicken stew from scratch
- I am not a palliative care pet sitter so cannot look after terminally ill pets. Pets needing a bit of medicine is fine, for example powder in food or liquid on skin is fine. But not terminally ill pets or pets with major medical complications. I suggest a vet nurse or vet pet sitter for these types of furbabies
- Pets with unresolved trauma or MAJOR behavioral issues are not right for me due to my routine. Please contact me to discuss.
WORK:
- I currently WFH so am home most hours of the day, however I cannot guarantee I will be in the house 24/7 every day of a sit, I may pop out for 3-4 hours at a time for grocery shopping, appointments or catch up with friends once/twice a week, which can be great for dogs as we can go on lots of walkies. If you need someone inside the home who won't leave beyond 2 hours guaranteed, then I am not the right fit.
FINAL 🎵 NOTE:
It is with regret, due to lack of transparency on previous house owners part that I need to bring attention to this:
I will always ask about conditions. Please be honest with me. If there's something you're not sure about, please discuss it with me and I'll be happy to tell you if I believe that would work. I also know other house sitters so can always potentially pass you on to the right people if you are having trouble finding a sitter. Undisclosed SERIOUS medical or behavioral issues with your pet shows a lack of care for your darling and can put them at potential risk.
Examples are: your baby getting visible cancer and telling me only just before the sit and you not allowing a vet visit when they get worse, not telling me your baby has severe asthma and you dont know where its medicine is, not informing me your baby has severe anxiety and needs meds.
Unfortunately all of these have happened to me.
I will report such future dishonesty in any reviews.
Finally I would like to finish by telling you about my favourite cat. About 8 years ago, a scraggly homeless neighbourhood cat started being allowed to take over my parents property as Tigger, their beloved cat faded into old age. This new cat, Nami, clearly did well under the families care, initiated by myself. We didn't want to encourage her but we couldn't hold her she was so scared of people. We asked around the street but no-one seemed to know her. So we started feeding her. I went overseas. When the pandemic hit, I returned and stayed with my parents for 9 months and to my horror, they decided to find a way to give Nami away. Nami had been scratching their trees and I couldn't convince them otherwise. Fortunately Nami was a lot more tame now and at the suggestion of a Vet friend of mine, I managed to capture her and put a paper collar on her with our details in case someone else in the neighbourhood had been feeding her also and wanted to keep her. The next day, we found out she'd been leading a double life. Her actual mum was a few houses away and had been trying to find out where she kept going for the past 8 years as she was only ever home an hour or so of the day. We staged an intervention where her mum showed up to show she knew. We also found out that the reason was her dislike of her older brother. After some discussion with her mum, her separation from her older brother was improved and while she sticks around her original house to get fed now, she still comes over and sits in our garden. My parents have fenced the trees. Read more...
