Hi! We are a couple in our early 50's, who have recently returned to Redlands, after travelling around Australia in a caravan for 18mths.

We first discovered pet/housesitting, when in WA over the Christmas/New Year period and found all the caravan parks were booked out around Perth and the South West corner. We found we really enjoyed hanging out with the pets…especially the dogs and then thought we could do this again, until moving back into our home (that we bought at Gold Coast Hinterland, prior to our trip away, but not near our current workplaces!). We are now looking at somewhere, preferably Redlands/South East Brisbane, to house/pet sit, until able to move back into our home.

We have only used Mindahome once, so only have one reference on this site, but we have several good references on the AHS housitting site, that we use regularly…you can check them out or I can screenshot and send them if you’d like.

We have owned dogs, cats, fish, hens and pet lambs ourselves, and both grew up in farming communities in NZ. We had 5acres of land in NZ, which we built on and landscaped ourselves, so know what is involved with yard/garden care. We have also had 10 years experience, of fully maintaining our swimming pool in the Redlands, so are quite comfortable with pool care.

Our beautiful beagle Millie, passed away in March 2021 and we have very missed having her gorgeous face looking at us and her companionship when we got home and took her on walks/outings/camping with us. Due to this, I guess a dog that we can walk or take on the odd outing with us, would be a bonus, but we also love the companionship of any animals and love being out in nature!

We are born and bred Kiwi's, but have lived in Australia since 2011, mainly in the Redlands. We are very active and like to walk/hike frequently and mountain bike. We love exploring, but also enjoy the chance to relax, watch movies, read books, or catch up with friends. We are both non-smokers and have current Police checks.

I (Olwyn) am a nurse and am back working 4 shifts/week, at Cleveland. Stephen works full time, as an Air Quality Consultant, based in Capalaba. His work varies and he can work from home at times, dependent on the nature of his work at the time.

We have nearly always owned our own home and have our home rented out while we are away, plus we used to have our kid's friends move into our house to care for Millie when we went on family holidays. So, we completely understand, the importance of caring for our homeowner's property and pets, in the same way we have always wanted this for ourselves.

We had been living in our large caravan, but have now sold this and are purchasing a smaller caravan in late November. It would be great if we had somewhere safe to store our caravan on the property, while housesitting, but can arrange for it to be put into storage, if this isn’t possible.
