More information about this house sitter

About me:

I'm a Scot, born in England who grew up in Australia and now I spend my time travelling for work and fun.

I'm a photographer & digital art marketer and work predominantly from home so spend much of my time working on my laptop and in work meetings over Skype.
I'm non-smoking, vegetarian, and I'm generally quite indoorsy and love to read and learn about the places I travel to, explore, take long walks, and spend evenings chatting with friends and drinking wine on the porch as the sun sets.

Why I love to house/petsit:

I always had pets growing up but find that my travels have gotten in the way of making a lifelong commitment to a four-legged family member. I want to house and pet sit as it gives me a chance to get in some longed for cuddles with pets and also have a small break away from my daily life. I find working from home can sometimes be a little monotonous so the change of scenery is fun as is the chance to make some new furry friends.

I really see house-sitting as an exchange, where we each receive something of value; you receive peace of mind that your pets are comfortable and well cared for and loved in their usual home and routine, and I receive the chance to make a new fur-friend, get in some much needed warm furry cuddles and explore a new location.

I am responsible and extremely clean and respectful. I understand that sitting a great responsibility and it's a privilege to be let into someone else's private space. I will treat your home with the same care and respect as you do.

My experience with animals:

Growing up, we had cats, lots of cats. Purebred Persians, petshop kitties and streetwise strays, every one with a different personality. If forced to choose, I would say I'm a cat person but still fall in love with every doggo I meet.

I'm very comfortable with all kinds of regular pets including dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and mice, and also some of the more interesting pets, having cared for snakes, hermit crabs, and dragon lizards in the past.

While living in Tasmania I was a wildlife rescue volunteer and regularly looked after wallabies, pademelons and ring-tail possums and was even lucky enough to once care for an endangered Eastern Quoll overnight. If you've never seen one, look them up, they are the definition of adorable.

Informally, I have been looking after my friend's and family's homes, pets and plants for decades but only heard about house sitting as a service in the last few years. I've completed 'official' sits ranging from cosy suburban houses with cats and dogs, to a small hobby farm & vineyard with goats, chickens, alpacas and cows.

I've found everyone on the housesit websites to be genuinely lovely, respectful and generous people, some of whom have become lifelong friends.

Overall I love meeting new furry friends. The hardest part is saying goodbye!
