My husband Tom and I have enjoyed raising our 2 sons who have now been making their own way in life for quite some time. We were sugar cane farmers, but also grew other seasonal crops such as watermelons, pumpkins & cucumbers. Tom also contracted off farm & did truck driving in the off season. I had been juggling a few merchandising jobs as well as my primary work in a very busy cafe and catering business & most recently I have been working, when needed, back in my very first job in a busy travel agency.
When an opportunity came up to sell our farm 6 years ago, it marked a new chapter in our life. Newly retired and hoping to see as much of our beautiful country as possible, we sometimes have had to pinch ourselves and say 'yep, we can do whatever we want today!'
Our home is in North Queensland, where we like to spend the winter, catching up with family and friends
& going boating. We usually get back on the road in Sept/Oct with our caravan & head south, hoping to escape the heat & humidity of our NQ summer.
We love animals but do not travel with any pets. We sadly lost our black lab/pointer cross, Lady, in 2011. Lady had been with us for 10 years & she was very much a part of our family. We also had 2 beautiful cats, Sylvester and Frankie, who we rehomed to a loving family when we started travelling on longer trips. This was a very difficult thing to do but it was for their best.
As I previously mentioned, we are travelling with a caravan & are keen to experience 'housesitting' & caring for your home & much loved animal/s, allowing you to have 'piece of mind' that you will return to a happy lot!
We are non smokers, we are very clean & tidy, I love to cook & we love food!
We love meeting people and having a chat! And love nothing more but to sit around a camp fire getting to know fellow travellers!
