Dear Australians,

My name is Mara, I’m 26 years old and originally from the beautiful south of Germany. I’m currently in Australia to escape the grey and often gloomy German winter – and to explore your stunning country a little bit more.

Over the past few years, I’ve studied and worked in the field of Fashion & Sports Management in several cities including Munich, Amsterdam, and Nuremberg. In 2023, I finally broke free from the hamster wheel and spent 10 months traveling through Asia – 6 of them in Sri Lanka. Ever since, I’ve been hooked on seeing more of the world. Although I do miss my family and friends dearly from time to time, I feel incredibly happy being here.

I grew up with pets – since I was 6 years old, I had my little black cat Lilli, who was like a sister and a baby to me. Sadly, she passed away this January after more than 19 happy years together. I know how to live with cats and care for them with love and attention.

My parents have a large garden and are passionate hobby gardeners, so from a young age I’ve learned everything about plant care, both indoors and out. We’ve always had dogs around as well – I’ve been walking and caring for them on my own since I was a child. In general, I’ve looked after almost every kind of pet and feel comfortable with all of them.

To me, animals and plants are essential parts of a happy life, and I completely understand the desire to leave your home and your beloved pets in the best hands possible. While I don’t have official references from previous house sits (as most were for friends and neighbors in Germany), I did one house sit in Melbourne together with a friend – though it was under her account.

I’d be very happy to meet you in person, as I believe you can never truly get to know someone from just a written description. I’m open to caring for all kinds of animals and house situations, and I’d love to support you in having a stress-free trip – knowing your home is safe and your pets are well looked after.
