About this house sitting position in Curramulka
This is an old stone house with quirks but is comfortable, colourful, and interesting. I have a good slow combustion wood burning fire. Firewood will be supplied. The hot water is gas (instant), as is the stove. I don't have a microwave. Parking is not undercover, just the driveway.
The town is very small and friendly with a store (agricultural and hardware supplies and sells fuel) and a pub. Set in cereal cropping farmland, it's just 14km to bigger town that offers most of what you might need, and a little further to many other places of interest.
Coast on both sides of the peninsula, the wilder west with brilliant long beaches, and quaint historic towns, and tamer beaches long the east.
South Australia's second most visited national park is just over an hour's drive south, the spectacular Dhilba Guuranda - Innes National Park.
All the neighbours are friendly, interesting and helpful. I spend a night in Adelaide on occasion for appointments or whatever, my neighbours are always happy to feed Hussy, so you won't necessarily be on duty every single night! I understand there could be good reason to be away for a night here and there.
Hussy is a bit of a fussy eater, all the food will be supplied of course. She, like all of us is a creature a habit, and looks forward to her evening meal! There's dry crunchies in a bowl for her at all other times. I let her sleep on my bed (and she will happily sleep with you once she's gotten to know you).
The fish are in a pond in the back yard, easy to care for!
The garden is quite mature and at this time of the year probably not very demanding, depending on rainfall. i usually water with sprinklers, and just by hand. There's a bunch of pots at the back door to keep an eye on though. Not too much other maintenance - weeds generally come later! I have a young guy who comes for the harder jobs now, and he'll come if there's something you think needs attention.
look forward to hearing from you!
must admit to feeling a bit desperate! Read more...
