About this house sitting position in Forth
This is a sit for someone who intends to have a quiet time, as Joey the dog does not like crowds or loud people.
We are offering accommodation in our small, new, fully self contained off-grid camper on site which would suit the right person. It is fully equipped, very comfortable, has river views and is delightful, but it's most suitable for one person.
Our greyhound is a super, polite dog with a beautiful temperament and very easy to care for - one walk around the block in the evening, several walks or (him) runs in our large terraced garden, feeding and cuddles, poo pickup, are what is required.
We won't require any garden care, just enjoy the views, birds, garden and Joey's company.
(Please don't ask us if you can bring: your pets, your family, extended family/partners who will 'join' you later.) We get inundated with queries that are always clearly outlined as not suitable in our advert. It's probably best you don't waste your time asking.)
This is a house sit. Not an airbnb. Our dog and our home are the priority and we have always had lovely sitters who understood this. Whether they chose to sightsee, do art, write a book or just stare at the garden was their choice but each one understood that our home and our dog was their priority. (We are still friendly with some of them as they were lovely people.)
If you have a motor home there is room to park.
We may have building work going on, so have decided to offer the sitter the cosy composite camper; this way, the sitter will not be affected in any way with work going on, as the camper is on the opposite side of the home from where work may (possibly) have commenced. The sitter won't be affected by this at all.
Joey, the greyhound, may or may not wish to sleep inside with you at night (not on the bed, he wouldn't even consider it and we ban it,) but there is enough space to do so in case he's not happy in the home alone at night. (Something to discuss with the sitter.)
We do have a garden person who comes weekly but they won't disturb you.
There is a very good bus service within 2- 5 mins walk, depends how fast you walk. Otherwise a vehicle of your own is best if you're not a bus or walking person.
The neighbourhood is a good one. Our immediate neighbours will be notified that a sitter is in our home, as will a friend or two, (although your privacy will be yours, but without the feeling of being isolated in a new environment.)
Excellent cafes and eateries are within walking distance (a basic cafe is in the famous pub, but they apparently have good counter meals and you might have a music event while here if you like that kind of thing.) And there is also our fabulous local cafe by the river, with its excellent food, ambience, fantastic gardens, a bit further away, still walkable but you may prefer to drive.)
Our lovely local river is a short walk away.
Local shop for essentials, fuel and mail.
Towns and shops -10 minutes - car/bus.
Fantastic Beaches, snow, Cradle Mountain 4 - 45 minutes drive.
We will preference vegetarians & plant-based cooking which means we have no expectations outside of our space, but within it, we would prefer no meat being cooked.
No smokers. The camper needs to be stepped up into and is not a level ground entry.
Verifiable references are a must.
If you also have a current police check that would be nice. Read more...
