About this house sitting position in Romsey

We are on an acre property in the beautiful Macedon Ranges. Our town of Romsey is small but friendly town. There is lots of hiking and roads for gravel riding in the area, as well as local wineries if you enjoy your wine. Macedon also has amazing restaurants for those that enjoy dining out.

We have 2 well-behaved 3.5 year old Kelpies (brother and sister), 2 cats and 8 chickens. The Kelpies don’t do well in a kennel, hence we’re looking for a house sitter. All animals are low maintenance.

The Girl’s chicken coop is automatic and the they are in bed by the time the door goes down. All that is required with the chickens is to put feed out daily, give them veges a few times a week, replace the water weekly and clean the coop weekly (it’s super easy and dropping go straight into a compost bin). The girls are super friendly and love pats. You’ll have plenty of eggs to enjoy.

Given we are on an acre, Jack & Frankie get plenty of exercise in the yard and therefore, don’t need to be walked daily. If you do want to take them for a walk, it’s best to take them down to the creek during the off-leash hours. They’re not the best on leads. The dogs get fed once a day at night. And they sleep in their own crates at night. They love cuddles on the couch at night, especially Jack.

The cats are indoor cats & have an automatic feeder. Need to keep the water topped up. The cats have free rein of the house.

We have a ride-on mower but it’s not expected to do any yard work. We can get a local to mow the lawns. There are indoor plants to water.

The Macedon Ranges gets very cold in winter, we have had snow here a couple of times. We have a wood heater that will heat the house at night.

We have amazing neighbours that we are close to and they will help if required. Read more...
