More on cat and home:

Our cat's name is Marshmellow, aka 'Mellow'.

He's quite a sensitive child. He loves his mum and dad, but will take time to warm up to strangers. However we have found he's happier if there is someone around - rather than no one (especially overnight). He is strictly an indoor cat.

He has a skin condition which is treated with steroids. We crush half a tablet into a bowl and mix with a wet food treat. He's previously accepted medication from strangers who stay overnight. I'll be exploring long acting medication with the vet, but I'm not sure if this is an option yet.

He's a bit of a grumpy old man, so not a huge fan of loud / unpredictable noises. If any kids come over for a brief visit, he can be herded into our room temporarily.

Best chance to make friends with Mellow is to express indifference to him - cats am I right? If he approaches, just offer a palm down hand or closed fist for a sniff. If he wants a pat, he'll head-butt your hand - but make it brief in the beginning!

He sounds like a bit of a handful hey? Thankfully he's pretty low maintenance elsewhere. He has an automated litter box which dumps the poos into a bag. So all you need to do is take out the bag and replace with a new one - maybe twice or once a week. I'm experimenting with a new litter which shouldn't require changing for the time we are away. If it does, it will be very easy to change.

He also has an automated feeder which we top up nightly, it has five slots and rotates five times over 24 hours. So if you go away for a day trip he'll be fine.

We have a staghorn that might need a good soak every few days during the summer. The rest of the garden is on timed irrigation. We also have some indoor plants that would like a good drink about halfway through your stay.

The flat is single story, but there are stairs leading up to it. Our patio / garden is pretty great in the summer (no harsh afternoon sun).
