Hi, my name is Ven. Jingang. I have been staying in the homes of friends and students since moving from the town of Penguin, Tasmania, in March 2019, after living there for thirty years.

I was born in the UK and spent most of my childhood in the Sydney area, before moving permanently to Tasmania in 1985. For the first four years I lived at Lower Snug.

In late 2019, a group of friends and supporters invited this mendicant monk to relocate to the Greater Hobart region to teach meditation, offer Chaplaincy services and, begin making plans to build a retreat centre that will benefit the wider community.

I have done home stays in places like Taroona, West and South Hobart, Sandy Bay and in the Channel district. Being based permanently in the Hobart area means that my references are local and, I have the capacity to meet you while you are undertaking the important process of placing someone you trust in your home. Staying in people's homes gives me a chance to explore different places, meet locals and serve the needs of the community.

As well as being a senior Buddhist Monk of the Nien-Fo Ch'an Order, I have worked as a Chaplain at Burnie Hospital and in Palliative Care in the community. I also served as a Volunteer Firefighter for fifteen years.

Police checks have been done and I hold a Working With The Vulnerable And Children blue card. I look forward to the opportunity of meeting with you to talk about what you need, so that you can have full confidence that your home and those in it you love, will still be loved and cared for while you are away.
