Jim and I are teachers and are currently on leave from our school in Twizel, New Zealand. We have been married for 33 years and have two adult daughters (24 and 27) and two dogs (black lab and a foxy cross). We currently have a housesitter looking after our two dogs in Twizel while we work and travel around for the year in Australia. We love animals and back in NZ live on a lifestyle block which has included in the past goats, pigs, chickens, sheep, turkeys, doves and of course our dogs. We miss our dogs, but the fact that they are on their own property with a sitter that we trust and know is going to look after them, makes it easier to travel around Australia without the worry. We sold our house and live on the lifestyle block next door in a four bay shed (two bays of which are accommodation) until we return to Twizel and build our new house. We also built a cottage on the land and have visitors from all over the world come and stay via our Airbnb site - you may want to check it out - it is called Mahina Cottage in Twizel, South Canterbury.
We have just finished working in a remote Catholic indigenous school in NT. The work was challenging but rewarding. We worked all of Term 2 and are now back on our travels heading initially to Broome and Perth but then continuing around to we eventually get to my brother's house in Sydney. We plan to fly back to NZ early December.
We have had many houses in our lives, I think we may be on our 24th house at the moment. Jim was in the NZ Army and moving house was regular plus we bought a number of old houses and renovated them early in our married life.
We are respectful of people's property, clean and tidy living people, non-smokers and easily able to adapt to different lifestyles. We taught in the USA for three years when the girls were in their early teens which was amazing and now we are doing it again albeit on our own in Australia,
The idea of housesitting came from friends of ours from NZ who have been registered on this site for a couple of years and are regularly booked as sitters for months on end.
We already have a couple of confirmed houses sits around Perth and will look after your house and pets as if they were our own.
