More InformationWe started this to provide respite for animal rescue foster carers . It has become full-time as others approached us for help and we know how our pets used to hate going to kennels. We have many regular assignments and have made many friends (human an animal!) and many repeat assignments
We are booked until 2nd October- available thereafter.
Our assignments have ranged from large farms to city cats and dogs, cattle to alpacas, a wildlife sanctuary to a race-horse stud.
We are currently looking after a delightful farm in Currumbin valley following a 100 acre farm near Grafton and a 280 acre farm on Dorrigo.
Ian: Originally English but Australian since 1973.
Semi-retired with degree and post-grad qualifications in rural estate management (- yes, qualified for the job !), architecture and archaeology.
Adaptable and practical. Ian has headed overseas development, construction and heritage projects in many countries and often in remote locations where practical abilities are paramount.
Helen: Australian , studied English at Newcastle Uni. Worked with the Health Authority in WA, followed by 20 years as government healthcare manager with Cornwall CC in UK. Now a successful textile artist with her own label "Usable-art". Also very practical and adaptable.
We have both worked with numerous animal welfare and rescue organisations and are trained in animal care (WIRES, SPCA, WSPA, GAWF, Blue Cross (India), Cat Protection League, Royal Agricultural College ).
We are quiet, non-smokers and vegetarian (but quite normal really!).
Since selling our 540 acre property on the mid-north coast we have been animal and property carers while looking for the right 'retirement acres'.
We do our best to help animals in need (sometimes separating to looks after two properties at once).
For more comprehensive details and 'photos please see our profile as 'estatemanager' on housecarers dot com
Ian is never happier than working with trees and gardens; but most importantly we really understand and love animals and are trained in animal welfare.
We will cherish your animals and property leaving you worry-free while away from home.
If you think we may be suitable please request referee contact details, including senior police officers, and further information.
