More information about this house sitter

We're coming to Tassie! We'll be in Tasmania for 2 to 3 years starting March 2020!

Mid 2018 we decided to chuck in the rat-race and retire early. Absolutely loving it! It suits our quiet, yet social personalities. We fell into housesitting almost by accident, and we have loved combining it with full time travel.

We have met some great people travelling.... We have made FABULOUS friends housesitting! We have plenty of great references for you 👍

John was a Butcher, well known for his cooking skills and advice in North Adelaide. He is a keen fisherman and loves walking our golden Labrador.

I (Bee, short for Bernadine) have worked as an Events Manager / EA and was a very successful Thermomix consultant..... but now I "run" a very popular Facebook group - Tick of Yum - I keep it very active with tips, recipes and advice. Just google "Tick of Yum", you'll find that it has been going for many years now.

We are both non-smokers and have had experience with not only animals, but swimming pools and spas - John had been looking after them in our home (before we sold it obviously) for 30 years. Me? I enjoyed the swimming but did the mowing and gardening as John worked long hours and wasn't home during the day.

John has had extensive experience with tropical fish tanks and birds. We've now, over our year of house sitting, have had Owls, Galahs, Parrots, Chooks, pigeons and even a Macaw to look after.

Our 3yo Labrador, Shameless, (so named because she is a sook), is super friendly with dogs and cats alike. She's not interested in chasing chooks or worrying other animals. Far too much work, she'd much rather sleep lol

We have a 4wd Ute, and a 21.5' caravan and have everything we need in the caravan, so usually only go in the house if requested. For instance, at one house we'd only leave the mail we collect in the home-owner's office - and only use the wet areas (shower, loo, washing machine).... In an other we were requested to stay in the house to keep the pets company. We're easy! (as it snowed while we were there, we were happy to be inside)

We consider any home/farm/property we look after to be a privilege, and we look after it how the owner wants it to be looked after, leaving it exactly the same as how we found it.

Our house sitting positions...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Trundle NSW. 2.5 month farmsit where the nearest town is 30ks away - we loved it! Bee took their 4 dogs for a 1-3 k walk in the mornings, John in the afternoon. Their dams were relatively OK so we watered a large garden and a collection of trees regularly, We mowed when necessary. Their mail box is a couple of ks away and we collected that 3 days a week.
Bathurst, NSW, 5 days, 2 dogs, 50 acre property.
Orange, NSW, 2 weeks. 2 dogs, 6 chooks, 2 Parrots, 1 Owl, 3 Galahs, 2 Pidgeons.
Nashdale NSW, 2 dogs, 15 acre property.
Brisbane, QLD. 5 acre property, 2 dogs, 6 Chooks, 2 hives and 1 Macaw (admittedly we didn't need to do anything for the hives)
Our December sit in Adelaide was cancelled due to the fires 😢
We have one housesit already booked for June and July in Tasmania.
