More information about this house sitter
Quiet, sensible, educated non smoker, non drinker. Aged 53. My only vice is too much TV. I have confirmed ID and clear criminal record checks on another site (this site has no checks!).
I have my own house in Northern Tasmania which I am slowly renovating. Very competent at lots of things. Studied architecture for five years so I am well able to recognise small problems before they develop into big ones. Available mid May till late September.
In 2017 I had treatment for cancer (luckily, one of the better ones) and I'm still a bit knocked about by that. Treatment is finished but I still am not back to normal strength - not too bad though - I managed to re-roof my house in December.
I had been thinking of caravanning the winter away somewhere warmer than home, but wasn't sure about caravans. So then I thought this may be a good solution.
I've never been further north than Newcastle, so I don't know where the good spots are. I'm thinking northern NSW or into Queensland. Anywhere is going to seem warm compared to a Tas winter.
I would drive up, so all I require is a car park (preferably under cover). Internet, a big TV and a comfy chair would be a plus as I like streaming TV (I know, sad isn't it?). Million dollar coastal view - sure - lovely :-)
I do not like noise like persistently barking dogs, loud, rough neighbours.
I have never house sat for people I don't know, but I could imagine (as a householder) what would be required. If you're going away for a few weeks or even months you want your house (and pets) to be safe and secure when you get back. You don't want that blocked gutter to flood the house. You want someone that can recognise that issue and clean it out before the bigger problem occurs.
Someone to respect your property and possessions, look after your pets and give them a bit of reassuring affection. Keep them to their routines. I'm very gentle and considerate of my own cat and would hope that someone looking after her would do more than just dish out cat food. Maybe a bit a chatter and lap time if the cats are into that.
Just a note for people listing their house sitting - it helps sitters if you include photo's of the accomodation (as well as pets) and list services your property has available (internet, parking, distance to shops). Read more...
