Christmas at “Solace” – Rural Retreat Just Outside Canberra

I’m looking for a caring, animal-loving house sitter to enjoy Christmas at Solace, my beautiful four-bedroom home set on six peaceful acres, approximately 35 minutes from Canberra.

Solace is home to quite the menagerie! I’m an active wildlife rescuer, and alongside my four much-loved dogs, chickens, peacocks and a collection of beautiful rabbits, we have regular released kangaroos and wombats who wander in each evening for dinner. There’s rarely a dull moment – although life here is wonderfully peaceful.

I’m ultimately looking for someone who will love and care for the animals and my home as if they were their own. The daily routine is very manageable. It mainly involves feeding, fresh water, checking everyone is happy and healthy, walking and loving the dogs, and the occasional reminder to a cheeky wombat that the garage – where the food is stored – is not an all-night buffet!

Beyond that, there really isn’t much to do except settle in and enjoy this little sanctuary.

The property sits on the fringe of the bush and is surrounded by beautiful birdlife and a natural, relaxed garden with plenty of places to sit with a cuppa or glass of wine and simply soak it all in. Despite the rural setting, I’m part of a small estate with wonderfully community-minded neighbours nearby.

Canberra is an easy drive away, so the house sit would also be a lovely opportunity to explore the National Capital, while still coming home each day to peace, space, animals and country air.

There are no medications or complicated care routines – just the usual feeding, watering, walking, checking and, most importantly, plenty of affection.
