Hi there!
My name is Lin and I am a cheerful German South-African animal lover. I am currently finishing my PhD in cancer research at UQ. As I am at the write-up stage, I have many days in front of the computer which finally gives me more flexibility to work from anywhere. Sadly, my living situation does not provide me with the best surroundings to write a PhD thesis, so I am looking for alternative options. Ideally, I look for something in bike-able distance to UQ, which is quiet and clean and has Wi-Fi (big plus for outdoor seating). Does your place sound like a perfect fit?
I am pretty easy-going, but value reliability and cleanliness - I like to stay on top of what matters. Do you want someone to sort out all the house-related stuff for you without you having to worry about it? Or do you want updates about your fur-babies while away? I am flexible to adjust accordingly. Just let me know.
I love furry or scaly company, so pet-sitting is definitely no problem.
I have been brought up with dogs and horses, which I trained on a daily basis and I also had wonderful reptiles (terrapins, chameleons and geckos) as pets, which enjoyed long and happy lives. At work, I have worked with zebrafish for almost a decade now.
Recently, I have cat sitted for a friend several times and really came to like it- so I thought -why not joining mindahome! Also, I am passionate about animal rescue, which started off rehabilitating rodents and hedgehogs in Europe. This continued to greater scale in Africa, where I worked at a wildlife rehabilitation center (especially caring for African big and small cats and predatory birds, training them and releasing them back if possible) and helped in ecological projects to help managing healthy animal populations within game reserves.
