I am an active recently retired Clincial Psychologist and Company Director. My home is in Whatuwhiwhi, Doubtless Bay, on the Karikari Peninsula in the Far North of New Zealand. This is a rural coastal area and we rely on rain/tank water, so I am used to rationing if necessary. I love travel and have done a fair bit in Asia, Europe, the middle East, Middle America, Australia and Polynesia. All my travelling has been solo.
I am mature and responsible with experience in caring for most varieties of animals. My dog Rosie (thats her in the pic) sleeps on my bed at home, and I dont mind your cat or dog doing likewise when I am at your place, keeps the feet warm! I have lived alone in my own rural New Zealand home for over 25 years, and own other properties where I do most of my own maintenance, so I am quite capable of dealing with any issues that can occur. Repairing things is fun for me and I can improvise if necessary, no worries. I was raised in a big family and our home was like a small zoo with an aviary of exotic birds, tropical fish, cold water goldfish, generations of cats, turtles, ducks geese laying hens, cows in the paddock next door, etc. etc. I am sober, non-smoking, intelligent and practical. Animals are a joy and I love meeting new pets. I enjoy my own company and respect other people's property and privacy. I dont invite other people around, and am more than happy for homeowners to lock off a room or similar as I would do the same. Mostly I am reading or surfing the net. I also enjoy golf swimming snorkeling and long walks, and I very much appreciate a sunny private quite place outside. I love the sun, so will be trying to avoid the colder months in NZ by escaping to warmer climates between June and September/October. I have had the best references from all of the 8 housesits I have completed thus far. The pet/home owners I sat for in Oz, England and NZ, and they are all ok about you contacting them. I am happy to answer any queries.

Lovely housesitter! Mary was very organised, looked after everything really well, provided updates whilst we were away. The arrangements were very straight forward - agreeing arrival times, checking for spare keys, asking about using the phone and all the things which can easily be forgotten. Thanks Mary & hope you enjoy the rest of your trip.

Mary seems a forthright lady who is resourceful. The arrangements went well and although we had a short handover i had a nice email shortly after to say that she and the pets had settled well. So i had a good break and came back to a clean and tidy house and ga.rden. Better than when i left with the lawn neat too. Mary had gone onto her next sit by then . So i would recoomend mary as a capable sitter who wou advise if there is anything that she is not comfortable with. And Betty was sad to see her go..

Mary fell nothing short of everything she said she was in her bio. We left for our holiday feeling relieved and relaxed that our pets were in capable hands and Mary was the right person to house sit for us. We had regular updates on how everything was going while we were away too. On our return our home was exactly as we had left it. We couldn't recommend Mary enough for any future house sits.

Mary was very organised - all ran very smoothly. Very nice to receive an update from her while we were away too as the dog was not 100%. I certainly can recommend Mary to anyone else.

I highly recommend Mary to you if you are looking for someone who will arrive on time, pay attention to feeding instructions, etc., keep your animals happy and content, water flowers, and leave your house exactly as it was when you left. Well, better really, because all the washing had been done! Mary has a very calm presence and our elderly, quite grumpy cat took to her being in the house easily. We had regular updates during our trip with a description of Foxy's day and what was going on with the house. During one of the reports, Mary coined a phrase which we will steal to describe exactly his attitude to staff , saying that "he remains largely aloof", although he did allow the occasional stroke and scritch. When we returned he was chilled and relaxed, and somehow we don't think he missed us at all. Thank you Mary, we had not a care in the world while we were away. Enjoy the rest of your trip, and maybe we'll see you again next year.

Leaving my cats behind when I go away whether for a couple of days or a couple of weeks is always very difficult for me. I find it heartbreaking and painful and I never look forward to the moment to say goodbye, far from it. From the moment I agreed to have Mary to look after my cats for this housesit I can say that I have not worried much and actually while I was away, because the communication between Mary and I was extraordinary regular and kind I have hardly worried about the welfare of my cats. Before meeting Mary I really liked her profile and could very much imagine a good connection with Mary and I was not wrong at all. On the first day we agreed to meet a bit earlier than my departure time and it was very valuable for me that Mary agreed to give up her time to allow me to get to know her better and I felt really good to leave my cats in her more than capable hands with no doubt. Everything went smoothly because Mary is a thoughtful, sincerely caring person and respectful. She is very good in putting herself in the shoes of the owner of the pet(s) which is very special. I came back after 10 days away from my cats and home to very happy and very well looked after cats, but also to a tidy garden. Mary goes way above expectation. For my future searches on THS Mary has set up the bar extremely high... To Mary - Thank you with all my heart for everything.
