More information about this house sitter

Hi All,
We love the Northern beaches and the adventures we are having full-time house-sitting but at the end of October, we return to Northern Rivers and are looking for a few months of house sits before we return home to our own farm.

We have been caring for pets and homes for the last 19 months (lots of good references and funny stories of the fur babies). Probably, the best reference is that we have now been invited back to 6 houses we have previously sat.

So far, we have lived in Elanora Heights taking care of precious orchids, explored Manly with the coolest Beagle ever, hung out with a sweet bulldog in Freshwater and then a Burmese cat let us stay in her house in Beacon Hill. We had Christmas on the South Coast looking after a menagerie of kelpies, chooks, cats, and senior horses, before returning to Bayview to hang out with the lovely, Molly, a dear elderly, black lab.

We had a month in beautiful Avalon caring for 2 rescue dogs and 2 rescue cats, then went to Freshwater to look after The Bear, another delightful rescue dog, then Beacon Hill with dear little Connie, the smiley beagle then chooks and a smooch-cat in Narrabeen.

We loved Avalon with two funny little terrier rescue, each with personality plus, and every day is a delight, and now we are still in Avalon with the calmest, sweet-natured big dog called Bella.

We are comfortable with giving medications, walking your doggies, and accommodating your fur and feather babies individual needs. With this many animals, you can imagine we have cared for many temperaments and personalities ranging from shy and anxious, the outgoing, the relaxed, and the high-spirited.

We will take care of your home, garden, and pets at no cost as if they were our own. We are both keen gardeners and have always had an extensive vegetable patch, fruit trees, and gardens. Bruce is a terrific handyman, and we have done extensive renovation works on our houses, and self-manage and maintain several investment properties.

We sold our home of 30 years in Hobart and were ready to move to our new home in Tregeagle in northern NSW when Karen was offered a fantastic opportunity and took up a contract as university research fellow with the Professor of Ageing. So we have put our plans for the farm and our plans own furbabies on hold for a spell in the Northern Rivers.

Karen is 51, a registered architect who was a company director in Hobart but has returned to academia. Karen’s research is about issues to do with ageing and her particular expertise is about designing environments for ageing well. She mostly works from home.

Bruce is 56, a forester and environmental manager. He is retired from forestry and now runs a part-time environmental consultancy from his laptop working from home or a cafe.

Our three lovely daughters are grown up and left home. We don’t have any pets of our own but both grew up with a menagerie of pets, strays and injured wildlife. We are non-smokers.

We are super organised, clean, tidy, trustworthy, and conscientious people. We can provide police checks and references.

Most importantly, we love animals and will make sure your furbabies don’t miss you too much so that you can enjoy your time away.

Warmest wishes,
Karen and Bruce
