About this house sitting position in Banksia

We are heading a few hours north to spend Christmas with family. In NSW obviously!

Whilst we are away, we need someone to look after our home, water plants, and look after our two cats.

Our fur children Millie and Harry would prefer to stay in their own home whilst we are away so that their routine and scenery isn’t disturbed. Both would cause additional stress on top of us leaving them.

Our 'kitten' Millie is now 4 and an independent lady. Over the last two years she has become quite the hunter and often comes home with a skink or jacky lizard. So the squeamish best not apply! She’s not a lap cat, but she doesn't mind an occasional stroke and you can scoop her up for a short cuddle before she runs off outside to explore or sits close by you.

Harry is a big cuddly ginger with so much love to give. He will hang out with you all day and evening. Loves his food (steals Millie's) and enjoys having a good chat. He is 14 and with his old age he mainly just wants to relax and sleep most of the day.

Both cats have lovely temperaments. They don't bite, scratch or growl. We have a cat flap which provides them with freedom during the day, but we lock it overnight so that both cats are kept in. This protects them, other cats and the Australian wildlife.

They both know their names and are generally in the house by 10pm, ready to be put to bed (they sleep separately as they are more like house mates than best friends).

Our home is a detached cottage in Banksia, near Rockdale. It is 10 minutes walk to Banksia station, where trains to Town Hall take 20 minutes and the train is also direct to Bondi Junction. We are also only 20 minutes walk to the beach (Brighton-Le-Sands).

The house has a front hedge (which should be ok for maintenance) and at the rear we have a covered courtyard (with outdoor dining) and there is a lovely level lawn for games.

We have a newly decorated queen bedroom with ample storage for you to stay in. There is foxtel (inc. sports), internet and optus fetch. If you work from home, we also have a desk with monitor and keyboard for your use. Our laundry is outside and has just been fully renovated. It has separate washer and dryer. We also have a split-cycle air conditioning unit in the lounge

Millie is initially apprehensive around strangers and has mixed reactions to children, therefore we would prefer not to have small children (U14). This is to minimise the stress on the fur children. Read more...
