About this house sitting position in Bundaberg

Hello all,
I am looking for a pet sitter for 5 weeks, 17th May - 23rd June, 2025.

We are located in Bundaberg (Thabeban), QLD. A good base to explore the region. Quick drive to shops and town being 6 mins down the road. Closest beach (Bargara) is within 15 mins drive.

We can accommodate someone staying in a caravan or motorhome with easy outdoor power connection. Your pets are accepted as long as they get along with our birds and dog.

If you have experience with birds that would be fantastic!

We have 3 indoor birds (a cockatiel and 2 budgies), they are free flight inside, they have a play area around their cage and a perch in the front room that they mainly stick to. They have a seed dish on the kitchen table. Their food and water will need checking daily, and some fresh fruit and veg offered. General cleaning up after the birds would be great, as they poo a lot haha. Change of paper in their cage and perchs every so often. But it is easy enough to keep clean. We will set up the house so they can only have access to their main rooms, limiting mess. The budgies do get locked in their cage at night and covered slightly with a sheet. Ollie (cockatiel) prefers to sleep on a shelf, we just put newspaper under him for easy poo pick up. We let the budgies out of their cage after 9am. All the birds are very friendly and love to socialise, they enjoy company at breakfast!
Zane my dog just likes having someone around. He isn't too cuddly, he loves to nap. He does love walks and he will smell everything and anything! I do walk him around our area, but itt can get a bit boring around our neighbourhood so I do take him to beaches, parks etc. I avoid letting him off lead as he sometimes has a habit of getting too cocky and not coming back when called. For that same reason I don't take him to dog parks, because as soon as he is excited by another dog he doesn't obey my commands. He is dog socialised but gets very excited very easily. He is very good walking on a lead and as a 10yo that usually gives him enough excitement for the day, especially when he can sniff everything. He gets fed one main meal around 6pm and gets healthy snacks through out the day. He will let you know when he wants to go in or out of the house. Otherwise he mainly looks after himself.
We do have possums that live in our mango tree in the back yard, so at night I always supervise him when he needs to go outside to the toilet.
Outside we have 2 pigeons in an aviary, they are free flight throughout the day and then locked up at night. They just need their food and water checked and changed daily and a slight cage clean if it gets a bit pooey.
And if you are okay with it we do have a chook pen in the yard next door with 7 chooks. They get locked in their coop for the night. We give them a fresh brekky every morning of heated up frozen peas and corn or some food scraps and leftovers. They get a dish of seed and water changed in the morning as well.
Later in the day, around 2pm we usually let them out into the main house yard to roam around and forage (but that isn't essential every day). They will tuck themselves into bed for the night, you will just need to close the coop door and then the chook pen gate. They have mostly all retired so you may get 1 egg every day or so.

All food, treats and essentials for all animals will be supplied and easily accessible.

Other than the animals we do have gardens, they could do with a bit of a water every so often. But nothing strictly to adhere to. Other jobs would just be collecting mail and any packages that arrive.

My brother does live down the road so he can do the mowing (if its needed) if and when that suits you. The houses on both sides of our house are my parents rental properties, so we all know each other well. The man that lives in one of them can help with the chickens (his house is in front of the chook pen) so you will probably see him every so often.

We have a spare room in our house, it has a single bed, desk and we will make space in the cupboards for your belongings. There is a TV in the room and we do have wifi. The room also has an aircon. And we do have a pedestal fan as well. Bathroom and toilet right nearby to the room, as well as the laundry. Up four stairs is the kitchen and dining/lounge room. It is an older small home. Very quaint and cozy, shared between my mum (60) and dad (62) and my partner (33) and myself (28). They have also run a tip truck business from this house for 30+ years.
All four of us are going to be away for the 5 weeks.

I am definitely open to negotiating any payments considering everything I am asking! And if you have any requests I will do my best to suit your needs.
