About this house sitting position in Kalbar
We are retired and have found a wonderful home base in the beautiful Scenic Rim of Queensland.
We have a summer trip planned for December 24 to February 25 and invite house sitters to apply for a stay at our home during this warm time of year.
The placement would best suit a couple or capable single who have lots of garden care experience and would enjoy spending time in our extensive garden and orchard and using the produce as much as possible.
In Summer, depending on rainfall, there will very likely be some mowing and brush cutting required to keep the grass under control as well as some weeding of veggies. So applicants need to be confident and willing with these tasks. We hope you will feel free to use plentiful vegetables from the garden
Significant daily watering will likely be necessary, (although we will have a level of automation,) particularly in our potting area and veggie garden, and our home and surrounds has a large number of potted plants to be cared for, so significant experience with and love for plants will be essential for this house-sit.
You will need to really understand plants and their water requirements to be comfortable with this house-sit and for us to feel our plants will not be neglected while we are away.
Our only pets are a couple of galahs, some chickens and a goldfish.
We have an electric fence system we would like kept on and checked also
We operate on a chemical free organic basis with no artificial fertilisers and herbicides only used occasionally in non-food garden areas. We will not be requiring house sitters to use any herbicides
Our home is a 2–3-bedroom Queenslander in a quiet rural area with all services, about an hour from Brisbane.
It is a lovely community with great neighbours for support.
We will also be contactable during the time we are away for any queries or questions or just to hear how it is going.
We would also ask that the home be kept clean and in current order.
We would want to meet our house sitters before departing if possible so please plan to arrive the day before we depart, and also hope you would be of a similar mind to us with minimising power and water consumption etc.
For hot weather we have reverse cycle air conditioning to keep you comfortable.
The living area of the queenslander home is accessed unavoidably by flights of stairs front and back, so you would need to be fit and comfortable climbing lots of stairs.
Please note we are not really comfortable with indoor pets.iclou
We look forward to receiving interest in our proposal
