We are a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 kids - Jason, Kylie, Gemma and Ryan.

Home for us is Canberra for now 15 years and even though it does get cold in winter, it is close to many nature walks and only couple of hours away from the oceans, snow and family living in all parts of Australia.

Jason is an accountant and works for the ACT Government and also runs a business part time. Kylie is a social worker at The Canberra Hospital. Our two kids attend primary school.

Because we like to travel a lot we do not have any pets. We are away most weekends and our last big trip was our family going around Australia for 4 months. One of best experiences we had and kids still talk about it. This was our 2nd trip around Australia as a family and would go a 3rd time if time permitted.

Whilst we do not have pets, both Kylie and Jason have cared for pets when we were kids/teenagers. Kylie grew up with pets all her life with many cats, dogs and chickens. Jason lived out of town on acreage and whilst he did not have pets, each of the major holidays he cared for the suburb of neighbours pets whilst they were away for periods of time from anywhere from couple of days to 6 weeks. This caring would be up to 10 houses at a time as everyone would head off for Christmas.

We love the idea of looking after another families furry because as our kids have never owned a pet and believe they are missing out on this experience. This is a way for us to still have a holiday whilst also teaching our kids how to care and look after a pet and let it be part of our family whilst their real family can enjoy themselves and not stress about their home or pets being looked after. But we do look after cats and dogs through the RSPCA so they are ready to be adopted.
