About me

I am a youngish 66 years retired Medical Assistant, quiet person, non smoker and love to live an active life as long as possible. The welfare of animals and protection of our environment are very important to me. Reading books, listening to music, travel and photography are some of my hobbies.

Why I want to house sit

House and pet sits are a good way to see and learn more about Australia, the world and other cultures. It gives me the chance to see where it's best for me to spend the rest of my life.

End of February 2017 I returned from Zambia, where I have been working with my late husband as a volunteer for 10 years. We created our own community projects, which are still running. As a new retiree I am obliged to stay for 2 years on Australian soil if I don't want my age pension being affected. Doing pet/house sits I can safe money on rentals which will help me to carry on with our African Projects.

Animals and the environment are very precious to me and I find it rewarding to care for them.

My experience

Beside my profession as Medical Assistant, I have been a keen gardener for the last 40+ years. For many years I had pets which include cats, birds, chicken and dogs.

Previously my late husband and I lived for 12 years in Perth Hills area, looking after a 700 acre bushblock with kangaroos, possums, emu and other wildlife. We did have our own 30 chicken and grew our own vegetables and fruits for many years. Other dogs we cared for were 2 Golden Retriever and a German Shepherd.

Overseas I occasionally did do pet/house sits and looked after dogs and cats on a farm outside Lusaka, Zambia while the farm manager was away.

Since June 2017 I have been continously house/pet sitting in Perth, Western Australia privately and through Trusted House Sitters. Pets cared for included a Papillion/Jack Russel (privately arranged), a Belgian Shepherd and a Burmese cat. Properties were a bush block in the Perth Hills area and 2 suburban houses.

The nearly 10 years (Sept. 2007 to Febr. 2017) in Zambia I worked with my late husband as a volunteer, training women and men of all age groups in various skills related to housekeeping, budgeting, growing vegetable and fruit and ensure that children (particularly orphans and disabled) are getting educated. My other chores included training people in regenerative small scale farming and being a Board-Member at the CBO "Project OSCAR Community Service Society Zambia".

Back in Australia my involvement is being a mentor for Thabo Vocal Band, an Acapella group from Lusaka; planning, monitoring and evaluation for projects involving orphans, people and families affected by disabilities, the elderly and the environment.
My main objectives are to protect the environment and help people improve their lives.
